What Every Girl Needs from Her Mom

Mom, do you have a daughter? Whether she is a newborn, a young adult, or anywhere in between, What a Girl Needs From Her Mom by Cheri Fuller would be beneficial to your relationship. It is helpful, inspiring, encouraging, and practical. Read more…

I received this book from Family Christian in exchange for my honest review. Read my full disclosure HERE.

I must admit that when I first looked at this book, I assumed it was for expectant or very new mothers and would not really be relevant for me. As a very blessed mother of two daughters, I am very much open to suggestions to make me a better parent, but my girls will be 17 years old next month; that means the bulk of my time to influence them on a 24/7 basis is quickly coming to a close. It was a pleasant surprise when I began reading and found myself face-to-face with a series of challenges and words of encouragement that were perfectly appropriate for this season of life.

I must be perfectly honest with you. If I had known then what I know now (and had access to this book in 1998), I would have read this book at least every 6 months throughout my girls’ lives. Yes, I think it is that good. It gives very practical advice, recommends journaling your thoughts about questions at the end of each chapter, and is very up-to-date in its concern for technological safety. My favorite part, though, is the balance between plans of action , reasons behind them, and their Biblical importance in raising our daughters for the glory of God.

I highly recommend this book and encourage you to not only read it, but share it with your mom friends. It will likely become an addition to my standard baby shower book gift, The Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie Omartian. What a Girl Needs From Her Mom receives a solid 5-spool rating on the Happy 2Ba Homemaker review scale.
