Patriotic Flag Jars

Hey, y’all! It is my pleasure to welcome Wendy of 10 Acres and 6 Chicks with a guest post today. She is gonna share a cheap, easy craft with us and I know we’ll all love it. Links to her social media channels are at the bottom of the post, so be sure to connect with her and subscribe to her blog.

Hi! I’m Wendy and my husband and I share our homesteading journey at 10 Acres and 6 Chicks. There are many reasons people decide to homestead and get back to the land. For us, a desire to be less reliant on others for our overall health and well-being is a driving motivator. We have lived in large cities, small towns and in the country. This past year we were fortunate to find 10 acres to call our own and have added six chicks to our homestead. As any land owner knows, the wish list is long, the to-do list is never-ending, and the work is tiring, but we wouldn’t have it any other way!

I always enjoy crafts that are easy to make, only take a few supplies and use up items I have on hand. So when I saw this project on Keep Calm and Decorate I was excited to get out my pickle jars and give it a try!
Honestly, I have been hoarding all kinds of jars lately. Anytime we empty a glass jar, I remove the label, run it through the dishwasher, and put it on my storage shelf. I had a feeling I could use them for making crafts and was thrilled when I found this one.

To make the Patriotic Flag Jars you’ll need:
glass jars – I used some pickle jars, but you could, use any big enough to fit the flags.
small flags – This was a four pack from our grocery store.
glue – I used Fabri-Tac glue and Mod Podge.
LED lights – I had some LED votive candle lights in my craft drawer.

Make sure your jars are clean and dry. I first used the Fabri Tac to glue the flag to the jar and to make sure the corners of the flag were all lying flat. Once the glue dried, I applied a coat of Mod Podge to seal the flags so I can use the jars outside, too! It’s as simple as that and they look so awesome!

I added the LED votive lights in the evening and loved the look of the jars with the flickering light. They’ll look great at night!

So, plan on reusing some of your glass jars and adding a patriotic flair to your Memorial Day and Fourth of July celebrations!
