Craft: Autumn Wreath

I love working with rolls of mesh! This wreath came together quickly and gives a great splash of color to our front door. I used four colors of mesh and added one large floral pick that included a sunflower, acorn, and a few other seasonal symbols; then I personalized it with a wooden scrabble-style tile that was on clearance. Each roll of mesh was 21″ wide and 10 yards long. The colors I used were orange, gold, brown, and a seasonal stripe including a mahogany, purple-y color that I really love.

It was a pretty simple project. Here is how you can make your own.

Start by gathering all of the materials you need: rolls of mesh, pipe cleaners, scissors, and a wreath frame.

First, cut the mesh into sections about 12″ long. Precision isn’t crucial here, but try to be consistent since getting the same number from each roll is helpful.

Then, roll each piece and put one of each color together in groups and tie them together with half of a pipe cleaner (chenille stem). The color of the stem really doesn’t matter since it will be hidden behind all of the mesh curlies.

Next, use the same piece of pipe cleaner to attach each group of rolled mesh pieces to a 20″ wire wreath frame, staggering their placement to fill in the whole circle. I like it really full like this, but you may prefer a different look. Also, if you want to use a larger floral accent or put more of a focus on it, you might be a little less generous with the mesh in that area.

Voila! You have a gorgeous, seasonal focal point for your home. Properly stored, it should last to adorn your door for many years. Please comment below to tell me what you think. I love to hear from my readers!
